Lesson of Life

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007

Today I learn something new from my friends. When we bullshit too much, we tend to believe in what we bullshit about. I think it is true. Sometimes what we bullshit seems more cool than the real thing. Why?

All of us would like to look cool where everyone would look up at us. But how many of us get the respect we deserve for what we do? Very little I assume. If not, we would not resort to bullshit to gain respect. We would make up things to make people think that, “Wah, he did that!” But is that the sort of recognition we want?

I do not know. Maybe to some of us who manage to live in that world we feel it is real. But how long can it be? Aren’t we cheating ourselves to be who we are not but to what people see in us? Or to what make others respect us?

Who are we really then? What are our desire? We know it but we just don’t bother to acknowledge it for we know reality wouldn’t allow us to get it. It is not wrong to get what we imagine but there are times the things we imagine are the one we can achieve and not what we really want. Is that consider bullshit for we are not honest with what our true desire is?

At one time I was too clouded in what I want. The dream that I have, I was satisfy for it was reachable. The one that are not reachable, I just gave up for knowing its too hard. But now I realize all are possible. It is up to me to grab it. The dream that I once have long ago can be reach. The dream that I thought was within reach is fading away at the same time. All I can hope is I can achieve all my dreams including the one that is fading away.

Like a saying, ‘Those who are successful is due to 1. fate, 2. environment that we mix with and 3. effort.’ I believe this plays not only for those who are successful but each and every different aspect in our life.

What is Childish???

Monday, October 22nd, 2007

How do a person define the meaning of childish? Is it the way a person act like a child? Or is it imatturity? According to AudioEnglish.net, the definition of childish is indicating the lack of maturity. What about the meaning of immature? From AudioEnglish.net also, the meaning is characteristic of a lack of maturity. What is maturity then? I went through Wikipedia, this is what it says, “Maturity is a psychological term used to indicate that a person responds to the circumstances or environment in an appropriate manner; this response is generally learned rather than instinctual. Maturity and inanity need not be mutually exclusive, for maturity is more of an understanding for when each of the two behaviors is appropriate. Psychologist B.W. Roberts explains that in an explicit model of personality, one’s personality must be viewed from both the perspective of the actor and the perspective of the observer. Therefore, one’s maturity is not measured solely on how he views himself, but by how others view him as well. By this definition, how an individual feels about himself is no more legitimate than how others feel about him, and so it is important that this individual gains a certain level of maturity as he grows older to earn the respect of others.’

Normally a mature person is an adult but what are the personal character of an adult other than coming to age ( which is 21 years of age) for alcohol beverages, gambling, sex, voting rights, etc. The personal characteristic are :
Self-control - restraint, emotional control.
Stability - stable personality, strength.
Independence - ability to self-regulate.
Seriousness - ability to deal with life in a serious manner.
Responsibility - accountability, commitment and reliability.
Method/Tact - ability to think ahead and plan for the future, patience.
Endurance - ability and willingness to cope with difficulties that present themselves.
Experience - breadth of mind, understanding.
Objectivity - perspective and realism.

Are we consider independent when we are staying on our own but using our parents money? I would say that it isn’t total independance for we still depend on our parents to finance us. We are dependent till we earn our own money which is enough to survive and with savings for the future. Even as we try to work part-time or freelance, how much can we earn? We still depend on our monthly allowance to survive. But I know a girl called Doris Thien, who is self supporting herself while studying. How she does it? I do not know but she is determine not to take a penny from her parents for her monthly living and education. She is a full time student and worker and she is paying off her car loan also. This is an example of independent.

It doesn’t mean that when a person is independent, he / she is mature. He / she may be mature to a certain level but can be childish at the same time. Some would deny it but sometimes reality is hard to accept. It all depends on the individual on how they take it. As stated above, a person’s maturity is not based on one’s self but also from how others see them and respect them.

What is our young people like

Tuesday, October 9th, 2007

Its a pity on how the young generation is like. We are going backwards or can say do not know how to think. Our education is not helping much too. Parents just allow their kids to do what they want and not know what they do until they are caught.

Do you not agree that we are very spoon feed? There are more and more high achievers in exams but do they know how to think? That is the question?

So far, those that I see proof that they really do not know how to think and have very little manners. Most older people would say, "Do not forget your roots" but many do when they try to fit in sociaty. To want to be like others like the Westerners but can’t be are what I call La La Mui. Its a pity to see them and I dislike them for they put the woman name down.

As a strong woman who step foot in the man’s territory, we try to be like the man to show that we are capable to do what they do. We do not dress in ways or look like the Westerners just to be recognize. What we want is to be recognize as capable career woman. But what does those girls do, go arcade and play the dance machine, money comes easy for them, just indulge in life without knowing the reason why they are here.

We as young leaders of the world, what are our roles? What we are doing is just going to lead us to caveman time. Our brain is not functioning as they should. We depend on people feeding us information to get things done. Can we survive?

Those fresh from high school or pre-u or maybe diploma course, you think there are plenty of time to plan your future, which is true but if you have no plan and work hard to achieve it, its like no goal at all. All you think is to just pass is enough? Think twice and look at the job market. You may graduate out with a degree but your attitude and character wouldn’t land you your first job.

Just think back bout it. I might be very emotional when I write this post but I just feel irritated and annoyed to see how those 20 and below act and bring themselves. Furthermore, I do not like la la mui that much but can tolerate them but when I see some which show they do not even use their head to think but try to act adorable, that is the last straw.
